According to the 1997 Statistical Abstract of the US, the number of men 65 years or older in the US between 1970 and 1990 can be modeled as

$m(t)=0.2t+8.137$ million men t years after 1970

The percentage of men during the same period living below the poverty level can be modeled as

$p(t)=0.033t^2-1.26t+20.3$ percent t years after 1970

a) Write a model for the number of men who were 65 or older and living below the poverty level between 1970 and 1990. (Be sure to name your model equations and list units)

b) How many men who were 65 or older were living below the poverty level in 1985? (Write in function shorthand first!)

c) By how much did the number of men who were 65 or older living below the poverty level change between 1985 and 1986? (Write in function shorthand first!)

d) Determine whether there is a maximum or minimum number of men living below the poverty level between 1970 and 1990. Describe how you know whether it is a max or a min, and determine the year of the max or min, as well as the number of men living below the poverty level at that point.
